We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to assist with the project Transforming trans-national landscapes of gender-based violence (GBV) through trans-sensory storying. The project involves inviting artists and creative writers in the UK and Mexico to ‘translate’ stories of GBV into original creative outputs - sound art, comic stories, short stories, poems, dioramas - for interactive exhibitions in Brighton and Mexico City.

As a researcher on the project, you will assist the Principal Investigator (Professor Lesley Murray) in administrating the project including organising project meetings, assist with the gathering and organisation of the stories and help organise the exhibition in the UK. This will be a flexible role with hours negotiated with the researcher to ensure support when required: for project meetings and at key points during organisation of the exhibitions and during the exhibitions.

This post requires:

A good working knowledge of Spanish.A good (1 or 2:1) Bachelor’s degree, preferably in humanities or sociology is essential, as well as up-to-date sound knowledge of the subject area.Ability to travel to Mexico in Autumn 2023

This post is 0.1 FTE (approximately 3.7 hours per week) until 31st January 2024. The working hours will be negotiated with your line manager as the workload may change depending on the demands of the project. The actual working hours may vary each week up to 1.0 FTE but the average hours of work for the duration of the contract will not exceed 0.1 FTE per week.
