About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Lead for Mentoring to join the Faculty of Education to provide dedicated and expert leadership, with strategic oversight for high quality mentoring, and its development and delivery with excellence at the University. 

You will have substantial expertise and experience in Initial Teacher Education, and will understand the pivotal role played by school-based mentors in the delivery of high quality teacher training. Edge Hill University is one of the providers to have been awarded DfE accreditation to deliver ITT from 2024 onwards; the new quality requirements place an even greater emphasis on the role of mentoring, with the requirement for more extensive training and closer integration of university and school-based provision. This core and substantial aspect of the provision will require dedicated and expert leadership, with strategic oversight of the training programme and how it is implemented, and quality assured.

You will work particularly closely with the Strategic Head of Teacher Education Development and other senior colleagues to help shape our ITT provision as a whole and have specific responsibility for the strategic development of mentoring.

About You

As Strategic Lead for Mentoring, you will:

Have substantial expertise and experience in Initial Teacher Education, Leadership and Mentoring.Be a credible professional with standing and influence within the professional and academic community for up-to-date knowledge of key issues and debates in the fields of mentoring and ITE.Demonstrate effective leadership skills (such as influencing, communication and engaging others) relating to Faculty and external colleagues.Display excellent emotional intelligence, whilst being an effective communicator and inspirational leader.
