About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Security Engineer to join the IT Services department, a growing team with wide ranging responsibilities across the University. 

You will play a leading role in the delivery and enhancement of IT security services across the University, working closely across all IT Services divisions, with System Owners and expert users, to plan, deliver and support a range of security related projects. 

You will also act as one of the University’s subject matter experts in information security, advise on IT security policies, strategies and procedures to maintain compliance standards and certifications, and further promote IT security awareness and best practice across all levels of the institution.

About You

As IT Security Engineer, you will:

Be an experienced and skilled IT professional, ideally with a recognised IT security qualification and significant experience of security technologies, operating systems, systems administration and scripting languagesHave excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, demonstrate initiative, and have a deep curiosity of all things technicalBe capable of technical discovery, detailed investigation and assessment of complex IT security scenarios, and able to accurately document the processes, findings and/or root cause(s)Have technical expertise, sound judgement and confidentiality will enable you to efficiently and effectively analyse security incidents and events, and implement mitigating controls.Have strong all-round communications skills, be flexible and reliable, and demonstrate a professional, pro-active and customer focused approachBe able to work in a small team and independently, demonstrate your ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines, and be responsible for the implementation of complex IT security developments from conception to completion.
