About the Role

As the Operational Risk Manager, you will lead a small team of specialists in delivering a key role for the University within the disciplines of health and safety, fire safety, compliance and assurance and business continuity. The role is a mix of direct support to Facilities Management teams within the department and a corporate role, providing specialist advice and support to teams across the University and as such is an interesting and varied role with a chance to work with colleagues across many levels. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager who has a passion for driving continual improvement across health and safety and related disciplines.

In this role, you will:

Support the Head of Risk, Assurance and Business Support to provide strategic leadership on university Health & Safety and Operational Risk areas of the business significantly reducing the University’s exposure to risk through effective oversight.Oversee the delivery of the University Health and Safety Strategy, reporting on progress and driving delivery of all objectives relating to health and safety, risk management, Fire Safety management and emergency preparedness.Manage the University's Safety Management system, ensuring continued certification to ISO 45001 and delivery of the annual audit and assurance programme, ensuring effective reporting and escalation to various university committees.

About You

As Operational Risk Manager you will:

Have a strong background in Health and Safety, with membership of IOSH and strong demonstration of CPD.Be engaging, inspiring and motivating in your leadership in relation to health, safety and risk management.Take a collaborative and pragmatic approach to risk management.Have experience of working with ISO management systems including ISO 45001.
