If so, the University of Leeds has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Lecturer in Computational Materials Chemistry for a Sustainable Future.

We are now seeking to recruit four new academic staff who will lead research programmes aligned with these pressing challenges; and contribute to our taught undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes that focus on chemistry and addressing global challenges. 

In a world with a growing global population and finite resources, sustainable development will be essential to achieving a fairer, healthier, and more prosperous global society, while protecting the planet for future generations. Within this context, innovative new materials are required to support clean growth, green manufacturing, affordable energy and the principles of a circular economy. The School of Chemistry links into the interdisciplinary Bragg Centre for Materials Research, which is a founding partner of the Henry Royce Institute, the UK’s centre for advanced materials research and innovation. This provides our researchers with access to world-leading experimental and analytical facilities to understand and build materials from the atomic to the macro-scale and a vibrant network within which to collaborate and innovate. 

We are now seeking to recruit a Lecturer who will exploit a computational materials chemistry approach to the development of materials with a focus on sustainability in their manufacture and/or application, including materials innovations for a circular economy. Relevant areas may include functional materials for energy conversion/storage (e.g., battery or fuel/electrolysis cells), (electro/photo-) catalysis for applications such as water splitting or CO2 reduction, novel materials for photovoltaic or energy storage applications (from quantum dots, hybrid and organic optoelectronics to perovskite-inspired materials), among other areas. There must be a clear vision as to how your research would complement and enhance existing research activity in the School of Chemistry and/or the wider Bragg Centre.
