Westwood Nursery at the University of Bath are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hard-working and creative Nursery Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, working 21.9 hours per week across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, Westwood Nursery provides 48 places for children aged 6 months to 5 years.

About the role:

You will play a key role in assisting the Room Leader and team in providing high quality childcare and education appropriate to the age and stage of development of the children. You will work to maintain a safe, secure and caring environment.

You will be required to complete tasks line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. A core responsibility is planning and providing safe, appropriate, child-led and adult initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities indoor, outdoor and in out-of-setting contexts, which enable children to develop and learn. 

You will also maintain children’s records and carry out assessments, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in the Nursery. Importantly, you will support the Room Leader acting as a role model in supervising and monitoring Nursery Assistants, casual workers, students and volunteers.

You should:be a good team player with sound communication and organisation skillshave knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum with the ability to support the development of our childrenhave a relevant first aid qualificationhave relevant qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or above)be able to work in a team to observe, assess and plan as a key personbe able to produce written documentation to support the progress of individual children, being sensitive to their needs.

Salary: £23,144 to £24,533 Pro rata. A supplement is applied to those at Grade 4 spine point 12 to bring their pay up to the equivalent of spine point 13.
