Description :

Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in marine benthic ecology and offshore renewables at the University of Southampton, based at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. We’re looking for a marine ecologist to join a collaborative research group to investigate the potential effects of electromagnetic fields produced by high-voltage cables associated with offshore wind operations on key benthic sediment invertebrates. Under the direction of Prof. Jasmin Godbold the successful candidate will carry out laboratory and field experiments to specifically investigate the effects of EMF on benthic species behaviour and physiology and determine the associated consequences for ecosystem functioning. Funded by National Grid, the position will involve direct collaboration with researchers from the School of Engineering at the University of Southampton. The applicant will have a PhD (or equivalent) in marine biology/ecology, or a related discipline, by the time of the start date and will have a demonstrable track record in conducting fieldwork and laboratory experiments using marine organisms. Previous experience of working with benthic invertebrates is desirable.

Enquiries about the post should be made by email to Prof. Jasmin Godbold, j.a.godbold@soton.ac.uk.

Closing Date: 08 Apr 2024
