About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate to take on this strategic project in partnership with Midlands Power Networks Limited and InnovateUK. This is 24 months fixed contract project, where your will have an important role in developing a new digital capability for a Dynamic Emergency Response. This project promises to reshape the UK emergency response sector by creating an innovative app-based platform. Known as the 105 electrical emergencies call-out service, it prioritises nationwide accessibility, operational efficiency, and cutting-edge technology. Harmonizing academic rigor with practical industry demands and ensuring project outcomes meet academic standards while addressing business needs is a delicate balance. Collaborating with stakeholders necessitates efficient communication and alignment. Managing diverse expectations throughout the project journey can be demanding and reaching adoption of the solution's value is pivotal.

The successful candidate will lead all aspects of the project including requirements analysis, research, technical infrastructure and system design and software development, in addition to system integration and training users.

The project will mainly be based at Midlands Power Networks, and partly at Staffordshire University’s Stoke Campus to make use of the facilities and interact with other peers. This role may require travels to remote sites that may not be easily accessible via public transport.   

Main Responsibilities

Work as part of a collaborative team to tackle the challenges set for the projectDevelop and maintain a detailed project plan, outlining timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies.Engage with key stakeholders, where neededConduct research into relevant literature, and Define and analyse the Business ModelConduct regular meetings and presentations to update stakeholders on project progress and gather feedback.Plan and execute the full-scale implementation of the intended solution and ensuring that the solution aligns with projected growth.Plan and execute the integration tasks for the project in a modular wayEnsure the platform’s reliability, scalability, and user-friendliness through rigorous quality assurance processes. Manage the phased rollout of the platform, starting with a controlled pilot and expanding to a nationwide deployment.Be responsible for the project deliverables Be responsible of the all project management tasks associated with the project.Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and operational guidelines.To conduct high quality research and publish in peer reviewed journals and conferencesTo undertake appropriate professional development and mandatory training activities as identified or required (See Professional Development section).The role holder is required to minimise environmental impact in the performance of their role and to actively contribute to the delivery of the University’s Environmental Sustainability PolicyTo undertake any other reasonable duties as required
