Description :

Overview: This webinar offers a comprehensive presentation practice - "a presenter's box of tools" - that can allow participants to speak to anyone, at any time about any subject that they choose to speak on. You will learn ways to optimize your presentation skills through the use of stories, examples, tips, guidelines, and experiential exercises.

Included in this program is a unique model of communication, based upon the tenets of Aikido, which, when utilized, can bring out the best in you as a presenter, and at the same time create a memorable experience for your audience

Why should you attend: In the film, "The King's Speech," in a moment of exasperation, the king, who has a speech defect, says to his speech therapist: "Listen to me!" And the therapist responds: "Listen to you? By what right?" "By Divine right, if you must. I'm you're king." "No, you're not. You told me so yourself. You said you didn't want it. Why should I waste my time listening -" "Because I have a right to be heard… I have a voice!"

We all have a right to be heard. And we all have a voice. But for many of us something happens when we speak in public: we lose contact with our voice; we become flustered, anxious, and/or fearful. As a former professional actor and a presentation teacher for the past thirty years, I have seen these disagreeable symptoms show up with people regardless of their level of experience. The difference, though, between a well-seasoned presenter and a novice is in how we respond to the following questions: what do we do when things aren't going well during a presentation? Do we try to act like it isn't happening? Do we deny or try to cover up our feelings?

Most experienced presenters do not get rattled when fear arises - for one simple reason. They have developed a "way to work" for themselves, a comprehensive practice that they can rely upon, that allows them to embrace whatever they are experiencing in any given moment. With a reliable practice, they can feel confident that at any time while making a presentation they can reach into their "presenter's box of tools" for just what they need to help them stay on course.

Areas Covered in the Session:

  • Focus on what is most important while making a presentation
