For seismic applications beyond the most basic structural imaging, data with both amplitude and phase fidelity are required. Achieving amplitude fidelity is particularly difficult in geological settings with complex overburdens and poor subsurface illumination, for example around salt bodies. This workshop will examine the impact of acquisition, noise mitigation and imaging methods on amplitude fidelity. In addition, it will explore the successes and failures of seismic applications that rely on amplitude fidelity, for example as in the case of reservoir characterization.
