Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of linguists?

We’re seeking a dynamic Lecturer in Linguistics to join our vibrant, academically rich, and interdisciplinary School of Humanities and Social Science. The post is an exciting opportunity to join a small and highly collaborative team of linguists nestled between the South Downs National Park, and the coast here in Brighton. 

Your expertise in pragmatics and cognitive linguistics will be valued as will be your willingness and ability to contribute to a range of teaching across the core undergraduate curriculum, including modules on Language and Emotion and Approaches to Understanding Meaning. We welcome a strong commitment to pastoral care and support of students’ development and success. The role will require you to supervise final year dissertation students who may be working on topics across linguistic and sociolinguistic topics, providing support for students’ research.

To be successful in this post, you should also:

Have a relevant degree in linguistics or cognitive science or a related/combined disciplineBe competent with IT, particularly in relation to teaching and learning

This is a 0.3 full-time equivalent post for a 22-month fixed term to cover a period of externally funded research leave, based at our Brighton Moulsecoomb campus.
