About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Knowledge Exchange Fellow (KEF) within the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC) at the University of Nottingham. You will develop and deliver a diverse portfolio of knowledge exchange (KE) activities, translating the nmRC’s world-leading materials characterisation expertise into engagement, collaboration and training opportunities with industrial, academic and public sector partners.

This unique, science communication-oriented role sits within the nmRC’s commercial team, working to expand business engagement activities and create new analytical service and contract research projects. You will also lead the ‘e-nmRC’ digital engagement platform and the nationally recognised ‘Under the Microscope’ public engagement and outreach programme.

A typical day is excitingly varied. It may involve you discussing materials science projects with potential partners, supporting analytical service delivery, developing public engagement initiatives or grant applications and creating new science communication toolkits for a variety of audiences. The overarching aim is to generate impact, income growth, esteem and wider participation in materials characterisation research and innovation.

About the team
The nmRC is a world-leading, interdisciplinary characterisation facility dedicated to the micro- and nano-scale imaging, compositional analysis and fabrication of material systems. As a core facility at the University of Nottingham, the nmRC supports research undertaken across all our faculties and collaborates extensively with industrial and commercial organisations across the UK and beyond.

You will join a collaborative and supportive team of over 20 research technical professional, academic and professional services staff dedicated to advancing materials research and innovation. We actively encourage and value diversity in our team, recognising the benefit varied perspectives, backgrounds and experiences bring to interdisciplinary science.
