We are seeking a pro-active, self-motivated and highly organised team player to provide research project administrative support and assistance with research tasks to a friendly team at the University of Surrey. The successful applicant will support the project manager in ensuring the smooth running of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded project that is investigating the use of new and additional professional roles in primary care in the National Health Service. The person appointed will also support research team members, when required, with gathering, organising and analysing data.  One of the key aims of the project is to improve understanding of how introducing new professional roles into primary care can improve patient care and outcomes.

The successful applicant will be based in the Surrey Health Economics Centre at the University of Surrey and will liaise with researchers at the University of West of England who are co-investigators in the project. The position will also require working in partnership with NHS managers, administrators, clinicians, patients and other key stakeholders with an interest in the primary care workforce. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for the efficient running of key administrative elements of this project, with strong supervision and support from an experienced wider research team, including the project manager and principal investigator. Providing some research assistant support to the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the project is also part of the role. The person appointed will be part of a vibrant community at the University of Surrey situated in the town of Guildford, which offers cultural sites, modern attractions and access to scenic countryside and London. 

About you

The successful applicant will require a flexible and proactive approach to work with excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently within a face-to-face and remote team culture. The person appointed will have a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel spreadsheets and reference manager databases (desirable) as well as prior experience working with data including data entry, organisation of large data sets and assisting with statistical analysis. The person will demonstrate confidentiality, excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work on their own initiative. Organisation, planning and attention to detail are key requirements for this position. Previous experience in a research environment and an understanding of NHS structures and functions are essential.
