About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CPD Support Technician within the Surgical and Clinical Teaching facilities based at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, Sutton Bonington Campus. This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours per week) supporting the delivery of practical teaching sessions.
This role provides hands-on technical support for CPD and teaching activities by preparing and clearing equipment and materials for surgical, clinical, cadaver-based and practical sessions, as well as coordinating and preparing cadaver specimens. The role includes supporting live animal teaching through setting up specialist equipment, maintaining clean and organised kennels and teaching areas, and assisting with basic animal husbandry. The post holder will maintain stock levels, ensure safe disposal of clinical and biohazard waste, carry out routine equipment care, and operate laundry facilities to provide clean protective clothing, alongside other duties that contribute to the smooth and safe delivery of teaching and CPD.
About you
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will bring basic IT skills, good written and verbal communication, and an understanding of basic biology or anatomy, as well as the physical ability to lift and move items over 10kg. You should be flexible, proactive, and able to respond to a variety of requests while maintaining safe working practices and following Health & Safety procedures. Experience in animal handling, particularly with dogs or horses, along with a full UK driving licence or an Animal Care BTEC Diploma, would be advantageous.
