About the role 

As part of our annual Faculty of Engineering Apprenticeship Training Programme, we have an exciting opportunity for an advanced Level 4 Electronics & Teaching Technical Apprenticeship to learn the skills needed to support the operational, teaching and research requirements of both the Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and the Foundation Engineering & Physical Sciences (FEPS) departments.

This is a great chance for you to embark on a technical career in Engineering, and we will support and help you to grow by developing the skills, experience and knowledge you will need to succeed.

You will undertake a full time 4-year apprenticeship with practical hands-on learning here at the university, whilst studying for a nationally accredited Level 4 Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

In-house training will be delivered by our expert team, in our extensively equipped workshops/teaching spaces, covering a range of electronic and electromechanical processes and instrumentation, preparing you to deliver high quality teaching support.  You’ll provide specialist practical advice to students, configure equipment and prepare teaching sessions enabling students to thrive and successfully complete their studies.

Your formal academic training will be delivered over 24 months in-person, 1 day per week, with a recognised training provider.

About you

You are an enthusiastic individual eager to learn new skills provided by our experienced and supportive technical team, with the ability to show attention to detail and rise to the challenge this fantastic opportunity presents. 

You should have, or be expected to achieve a minimum of one of the following:

64 tariff points in A-Level subjects, including Maths or a Level 3 BTEC or T-Level in an engineering discipline. 

Minimum grade 4/C in GCSE Maths, English and a Science.
