We are currentlyâ¯seekingâ¯to appointâ¯a Research Assistantâ¯to join our vibrant and multidisciplinary teamâ¯atâ¯the Institute of Mental Health,â¯University of Nottingham.â¯The role holderâ¯willâ¯undertake supervised qualitative researchâ¯on aâ¯newâ¯project investigating digital inequalitiesâ¯and dementia preventionâ¯in people with dementia and carers from underservedâ¯groups.â¯This project is linked with theâ¯DETERMINDâ¯projectâ¯and funded by the NIHRâ¯MindTechâ¯MedTech Co-operative.â¯â¯ 

You will work directlyâ¯with theâ¯Principalâ¯Investigators, Drâ¯Esther Loseto-Gerritzen and Dr Magdalena Opazo Breton, and co-investigatorâ¯Dr Benâ¯Hicks,â¯to support the project.â¯You will work within a collaborative team, supporting participant recruitment,â¯schedulingâ¯and conducting interviews, managing and analysing data,â¯and writing a lay summary report and academic publication.â¯You will also supportâ¯identifyingâ¯new areas of research and extend your publication and research income portfolio.⯠

Candidates mustâ¯holdâ¯aâ¯degree or equivalent in Psychology, Healthâ¯Sciencesâ¯or a related field andâ¯haveâ¯experience ofâ¯qualitativeâ¯research methodologies and techniques,â¯as well as excellentâ¯written andâ¯interpersonal skills.â¯Experience of research withâ¯vulnerable groups, including adults with mental health conditions orâ¯cognitive difficulties,â¯as well as the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others (internally and externally)â¯is essential.â¯This role would be ideally suited for aâ¯personâ¯wishing to pursue a PhD orâ¯DClinPsy.â¯â¯â¯â¯ 

This is a full time (36.25 hours), fixed term post for 12 months.⯠Applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). There is flexibility to discussâ¯work patterns and hybrid/remote working. Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

This role will involveâ¯contactâ¯withâ¯people with dementiaâ¯and their families and therefore the post holder willâ¯be requiredâ¯to obtain satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), in line with the University’s code of research conduct and research ethics.â¯â¯
