This is a permanent, part-time 0.5 FTE position. 

Lincoln Bishop University is located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes’ walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, and the old Roman city. Our story began in the 1860s as an Anglican teacher training college for women, which makes us one of the oldest Higher Education Institutions in the UK. Since then, we've grown, adapted, and modernised to become the thriving university we are today. We're still experts in teaching and education, but we've now got a wider portfolio of exciting degree courses than ever before. We offer courses in a wide range of subjects, from Undergraduate Degree level to PhD, and much more in between. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role in developing adult and community-based learning at Lincoln Bishop University. The postholder will support the University’s commitment to lifelong learning and widening participation, helping to create accessible pathways into higher education and strengthen engagement with local communities.

Working within the School of Lifelong Learning, the Adult Skills Manager will coordinate and deliver a range of adult and community-based skills initiatives, contributing to the University’s growing portfolio of flexible and employability-focused provision.

This role contributes to the University’s Strategy 2030, supporting its commitment to expanding access to higher education, promoting social mobility, and enabling lifelong learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes:

•    Leading the coordination and delivery of adult and community-based learning initiatives· Supporting the development of learning opportunities that promote educational progression and widening participation

•    Managing operational and partnership activity at the Ermine Library and Community Hub

•    Developing and coordinating skills bootcamps and short employability-focused programmes

•    Working with academic, professional services, and community partners to design flexible routes into higher education

•    Identifying and contributing to external funding opportunities for adult skills provision

•    Building and sustaining partnerships with employers, training providers, and community organisations

•    Supporting the development of proposals and business cases to grow the Adult Skills portfolio

•    Contributing to reporting, quality assurance, and compliance with funding requirements


We are looking for a candidate who brings:

•    Experience of managing or delivering adult, community, or work-based learning programmes

•    Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives

•    Experience of working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders

•    Experience of securing or supporting externally funded projects

•    Knowledge of widening participation and lifelong learning within higher education

•    Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills

•    A commitment to inclusive educational practice and community engagement
