Description :

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in applied health research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Research Fellow to work in the School of Healthcare on an exciting and novel health services research study funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Services & Delivery Research programme.  You will have PhD in a subject area relating to health services research/applied health research or social care. You will also have experience of realist methods.

This project is concerned with improving the outputs of National Clinical Audits (NCA) to support organisations to improve the quality of care and clinical outcomes. The project will involve developing and evaluating an interactive quality dashboard (QualDash) that supports clinical teams, quality sub-committees, NHS Trust boards, and commissioners to better understand and make use of NCA data. Using the principles of realist evaluation, the project will involve undertaking interviews to understand how and in what contexts NCA data are currently used to improve care quality and then working in collaboration with NHS staff to develop the dashboard and an associated implementation strategy. A feasibility study will be undertaken to evaluate the impacts of QualDash, using audit data and questionnaires, with ethnographic observations and interviews providing insights into the contexts and mechanisms that lead to those impacts. The QualDash team is multidisciplinary, including a Research Assistant in the School of Healthcare and a Research Fellow in the School of Computing, and investigators with health services, clinical, human-computer interaction, and information visualization expertise.
