Description :

An Associate Professor and two Assistant Professor posts are to be established at the University of Nottingham. In the first instance, we are seeking to identify interested scientists wishing to lead programmes of research in human integrative physiology and experimental medicine and interested in contributing to the delivery of a new BSc degree in Sport and Exercise Science (launched September 2018). Time will be made available to junior colleagues to concentrate their efforts into developing their research and securing funding before contributing to teaching.

The University of Nottingham has long-standing research strengths and excellent facilities for human metabolic and physiology research. We seek expressions of interest from scientists with a successful track record of human volunteer research wishing to take advantage of our facilities and University wide strategic research structures (MRC/ARUK Centre for Musculoskeletal Ageing, ARUK Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis, ARUK Pain Centre, Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre and the Nottingham NIHR Biomedical Research Centre).

A track record in human metabolism and/or physiology research in the context of nutrition, ageing exercise, health and chronic disease is crucial, along with evidence of having secured independent research funding, and the ability to identify opportunities for the development of new research projects and collaborations within the University research framework.

Interested parties with a PhD or equivalent in a subject area relevant to human integrative physiology and experimental medicine should e-mail a 1 to 2 page expression of interest and a copy of their curriculum vitae to Prof Paul Greenhaff (paul.greenhaff@nottingham.ac.uk) and Dr Kostas Tsintzas (Kostas.Tsintzas@nottingham.ac.uk). The expression of interest should include details of your skills and experience, your previous and current research experience and a brief explanation as to why you are interested in the role.  Informal enquiries are welcome to either of the above email addresses or by calling 0115 8230127. Following the review of the expressions of interest, we will go out to advert and invite formal applications.
