A Postdoctoral Research Associate post is available to work within an EPSRC-funded project in the Department of Physics in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University, the University of St Andrews, and the Philipps-Universität, Marburg. You will be using magneto-transport, scanning probe microscopy, angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) and optical spectroscopy to investigate electronic band structure and magnetism in a new family of transition metal-based magnetic semiconductors with possible spintronic applications, including 2D layered materials and epitaxial semiconductors.
Applicants should have hands-on familiarity with nanofabrication of semiconductor devices and with small signal transport measurements at low temperatures; experience of optical spectroscopy, ARPES or density functional theory calculations would be an advantage.
This is a fixed term post ending 12th Jan 2019 which is available immediately
