Description :

Are you a cardiology trainee interested in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR)? Are you interested in structural/valvular heart disease? Would you like to undertake a period of study towards an MD/PhD involving CMR in valvular heart disease?

Our department has a growing track record in the evaluation of structural heart disease, particularly aortic and mitral valve disease. This work has been supported by the British Heart Foundation and involves a number of collaborative projects in the UK and Denmark.Being one of the largest UK centres for structural heart disease intervention (transcatheter techniques for Aortic, Mitral and Tricuspid valve Implantation/repair) we have an excellent opportunity to evaluate percutaneous and surgical techniques using CMR to assess the comparative outcomes based on imaging parameters and patient reported outcome measures (e.g. functional status from detailed neurocognitive assessments and quality of life questionnaires). We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and capable clinical fellow who would like to undertake a period of research involving this patient group.
