This is a technical supervisory position with responsibility for the day to day operation of a complete technical support service for teaching and research activities in the PVRC’s research test cells and laboratories. Facilities include engine and turbo charger test cells, chassis dynamometer laboratory, vehicle preparation laboratory and mechanical workshop. The post holder will supervise a cohort of senior technicians and work closely with both academic and research staff engaged in research projects with automotive sponsors and collaborators. He / she will assist the Technical Manager in establishing best practice in the supervision of the technical staff and the facilities including the forward planning and optimum utilisation of materials, equipment and technical resources. The post holder will discharge these responsibilities in addition to maintaining their own “hands on” core activities.

Applicants should have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship and possess a minimum of either a HNC, City & Guilds or equivalent in mechanical / automotive engineering or a related subject, have proven experience of holding a senior supervisory position within an automotive research facility, workshop or laboratory  environment and have basic machining, fitting and assembly skills. 

This full time post (36.5 hours per week) and is being offered on an open ended contract with a commencing salary of £32,548 rising to £38,833 per annum, through annual increments.
