Applications are invited for the above position to join the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 100 members, with 18 academics (including 7 full professors) and approximately 90 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows. The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 1MW.

The successful candidate will become a part of a team working on a new EU-funded project that deals with the development of an innovative Electric Power System (EPS) architecture for future more-electric regional aircraft. This role will focus on the design, development and manufacturing of a supercapacitor based Energy Storage system with associated power electronics and control system for interfacing with an aircraft DC grid. The successful candidate will also work closely with relevant industrial partners.

Candidates must have a Good (2.i) first degree (or equivalent) in electrical/electronic engineering or a related subject. A PhD or equivalent (or near completion) and research experience in power electronics for aerospace applications, complex printed circuit board design for high switching frequency power electronics, good programming skills, ability to develop efficient simulation models of power-electronics for efficiency evaluation and control are required.
