Description :

Lancaster University wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer to strengthen and further develop its world leading research and educational activities in the area of ageing related to health and wellbeing.

The post holder will be based in the Division of Health Research (DHR), which is located in the Faculty of Health and Medicine and will be a member of Lancaster University Centre for Ageing Research. DHR conducts leading research activity in ageing, mental health and well-being, end of life care and social and economic inequality and health, with an emphasis on social science. The Division also offers a range of part-time and full-time teaching programmes at Masters and PhD level, predominantly through blended learning.

Significant investment in the creation of a Health Innovation Campus, adjacent to the main campus, makes this an exciting time to join Lancaster University as a leader in health research, with construction of the £41 million first phrase of building scheduled for completion in 2019.

The preferred candidate will have an established academic track record in ageing related to any aspect of health and well-being, but candidates with expertise in dementia, health technology or health behaviour are particularly welcome. The candidate should have a proven track record in research and educational leadership commensurate with the post. S/he will be enthusiastic to drive a relevant and innovative research agenda, supervise and attract postgraduate students and to develop new teaching programmes.

The Faculty provides a research environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.

Job share and part-time arrangements will be considered.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Professor Catherine Walshe (Head of Division) email: c.walshe@lancaster.ac.uk or Professor Christine Milligan (co-Director of Lancaster University Centre for Ageing Research) email: c.milligan@lancaster.ac.uk

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
