Description :

The School prides itself on providing a welcoming, supportive and positive working environment. You should have, or be near completing, a PhD, and specialise in water and wastewater treatment technology/processes, microbiology, water quality monitoring, or sanitation safety planning. Skills in multivariate statistics would be an advantage.

You will have a high-quality research profile (consistent with career stage) and evidence of the potential to develop an externally funded research programme. You will also demonstrate a commitment to high quality learning and teaching across all levels of Higher Education, including on fieldwork within the UK and internationally. A significant proportion of our Geography and related degree programmes is team-taught, making an ability to work flexibly as an individual and team member essential.

You will become a member of the Environment and Public Health Research and Enterprise Group (EPHREG) and the Centre for Aquatic Environments, with access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School. The successful applicant will have access to EPHREG’s Cat 2 Microbiology laboratory and fieldwork equipment pool and, if appropriate, you will be supported to gain an accredited UK teaching qualification.

This post is full time and fixed-term for five years. Job-sharing applications are welcomed, as are applications from ethnic minorities that are currently under-represented in the School.

Informal enquiries contact Dr James Cole (J.N.Cole@brighton.ac.uk) or Dr Kirsty Smallbone (k.smallbone@brighton.ac.uk).
