Located within the School of Social Sciences, the Department of Sociology & Criminology is a high performing entity that provides students and staff with exceptional opportunities for teaching, research and professional development, all within an applied and focused environment. Previous module coordination experience would be advantageous. Applicants should be actively involved in research, knowledge transfer or professional practice. The department of Sociology & Criminology houses just under 50 full time academic staff and is seeking to appoint exceptional individuals who will have input to the teaching of our successful and established BA and MA Criminology suite of programmes. The Lecturer in Policing would also be expected to have a role in the development and delivery of the new BSc Policing programme. Candidates for both posts should ideally be in possession of a relevant Master’s qualification. A PhD qualification and/or a background in applied Criminology / Policing would be an advantage. A strong national profile or reputation in Criminology or Policing (research or practice) would be welcome. As well as teaching, the post holders will be able to contribute to research activity, and areas including the broader student experience.
