Description :
The research of the Heinz-Nixdorf-Chair of Biomedical Electronics focuses on solutions of clinical unmet need in diagnostics. These include, for instance, microsensor- based lab-on-a-chip systems for cell function testing. Many of these applications are developed in joint projects with partners from university and industry (http://www.lbe.ei.tum.de/de/startseite/). The Chair is located at the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) at the campus of the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar (https://www.translatum.tum.de/). TranslaTUM is a unique biomedical research center to foster interdisciplinary research between engineering, life sciences, and preclinical research, in close distance to the clinical routine. Currently we are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a strong background in protein biochemistry, chemistry or biotechnology to strengthen our assay expertise. Labels for cell function analysis require an understanding of materials for nano- and micron-sized particles and surface chemistry of binders. The candidate should be interested in workflow solutions to integrate assays for novel cell analysis tools to perform preclinical testing and to participate in clinical diagnostic studies. At first, the position is open for years 2019-2020, with the possibility of extension for 2021-2022.
