Description :

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant/Associate/Fellow to conduct research in support of a collaborative research project funded by the Birmingham-Nottingham Education Partnership Fund. The project is led by Dr Helen Williams and seeks to increase the presence of ethnic diversity in the collaborating departments’ curricula as a method of closing the attainment gap between white and BAME students, an undertaking popularly referred to as ‘decolonising’ the curriculum. The participating subject areas are philosophy and politics, and the collaborators are split between the University of Nottingham and the University of Birmingham.

The successful candidate must have completed relevant postgraduate training in research and should have a background in a field relevant to the project, such as one of the participating subject areas, critical race theory/pedagogy, sociology, or education. The candidate must also have training and experience in data collection and analysis using at least one methodology relevant to the project, including focus groups and survey methodologies. The candidate must have some experience of teaching, though this need not be in higher education.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term, part-time (21.75 hours per week) basis until 31 August 2020. There is some flexibility surrounding working patterns. Please specify in your application if you wish to apply for flexible working, including indicating the desired pattern.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Helen Williams (email helen.williams@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
