We seek a Research Officer to support the synthesis of peptides and their grafting on to magnetic nanoparticles for an European Commission HORIZON 2020 research project on magnetic sensors for Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease. This role would ideally suit an individual with a good honours degree in Biology or Biomedical Sciences and with a previous laboratory experience in biochemistry research.

The candidate will be expected to be using a range of basic research methods to support the project tasks and to:

be able to work independently in the laboratory in collaborations with scientists of the Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devicesbe responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratory equipment and of the health and safety requirementsdesign experiments in collaboration with the hosting research teamstore the data in dedicated and confidential digital formpresent the data both as written reports and as powerpoint presentations

The successful candidate will join the scientists at the CRMD in their regular internal meetings and EC consortium meetings.

The Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devices aims to achieve pioneering, patient-driven treatments and technological innovation in regenerative medicine and medical devices.

Responding to some of the most recognised socio-economic challenges, the centre focuses on scientific knowledge, diagnostics and treatments based on regenerative medicine and devices in six main priority areas: neurodegenerative diseases and sensory dysfunctions, diabetes, wound healing, cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal diseases and sensitive science.

The Centre capitalise on over 25 years of research in the field of biomaterials with a particular focus on the surface functionalisation of biomaterials by a biomimetic approach and study of molecular and cellular interactions at the interface between synthetic surfaces and the biological environment.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post until the end of October 2019.
