Research Manager (FA0264)

The Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education (FACE) was formed in 2017 and is constituted from six academic units: 1) School of The Arts, 2) Department of Criminology and Sociology, 3) Department of History, 4) School of Education, 5) Department of English and American Studies and, 6) Department of Languages and Philosophy.

The Research Manager works on behalf of the Faculty Business Manager, with professional guidance from the Associate Dean for Research, to lead strategic coordination of research across the Faculty. 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding professional who, with professional guidance from the Associate Dean for Research, will support the development and delivery of Faculty and School/Department research strategies. The post holder will lead a small, high impact research office who will have the responsibility to develop service provision to support the Faculty’s research ambitions. The post holder will report to the Faculty Business Manager, who leads the Professional Services team within the Faculty. 

The duties include (but are not limited to):

Lead the Faculty Research Office team and the development of service provision to support research: including provision of research facilitation, supporting ethical and peer review processes, process improvement, performance monitoring, projects, conferences and seminar programmes, management of applications for professional development and administration of postgraduate research students.Support the Associate Dean for Research, Research co-ordinators and Research Cluster/Centre leads in developing and implementing research strategies, policies and plans.Work with Faculty, School and University Marketing & Communication teams to increase the profile of research and promote research success.Provide project management support from time to time for Faculty and School research initiatives.Manage the Faculty Research Office.
