Description :

Applications are invited for the post of Technical Supervisor for our Physics technical support team. This is an exciting opportunity in a varied and exciting work environment at the forefront of international cutting-edge research.

The Department of Physics is looking for a dynamic team leader to fill this hands-on role, supervising a team of staff members working across a diverse group of laboratories and workshop facilities. You should be able to drive the team to provide effective and pro-active support of the research and teaching agenda of the Department. You will also be expected to use your own experience and skills in delivering core technical activities in the Department.

With excellent communication and organisational skills you will lead the technical team across the Department’s main experimental research themes; Nanosciences, Astrophysics and Photonics. Ideally, you will have experience and practical knowledge in one of these main areas.

Alongside these more practical duties you will assist the Technical Manager and Head of Department in establishing best practice, promoting excellent H&S culture and creating a positive working environment. As such, you will need a wider understanding of the compliance and H&S requirements in a busy Physics Department.

We maintain open communication across the engineering and science faculties and the greater campus creating a welcoming community in which to work, meet and share good practice.
