Applications are invited for the above post based in the Division of Primary Care or Division of Epidemiology and Public Health, University of Nottingham. 

The Division of Primary Care is one of the foremost primary care centres in the UK, with 82% of our research judged as world-leading or internationally excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. We are a multi-disciplinary unit of over 130 people, including practising GPs, Public Health Specialists, other health professionals, psychologists, statisticians, research and support staff. The Division is also a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (see: www.nihr.ac.uk/research/Pages/programmes_primary_care_research.aspx for further details).

The Epidemiology and Public Health research group is highly research active, having been ranked 12th of 32 for research power in Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care (UA02) in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework exercise. 38% and 44% of assessed outputs in UA02 were ranked 4* (world leading) or 3* (internationally excellent) respectively (see https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/medicine/about/EPH/ for further details).

As a future leader in academic Public Health, the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing their own research profile, closely aligned with the department’s existing research interests, whilst completing their specialty training in Public Health, leading to award of CCT. 

Duties will include 55% academic (research and a small amount of teaching) and 45% service public health work (in placements within the East Midlands region). 

Candidates will already have passed the assessment centre for entry to the Public Health training scheme and will have completed Part A MFPH (essential). They will have a strong commitment to research in public health and epidemiology, with previous research experience, and will either hold a higher degree (PhD or MD) or be willing to work towards one. 

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 4 years (full-time, up to 6 years 0.6 FTE minimum part-time) or until CCT, whichever is soonest. The candidate will also participate in the public health network’s on-call rota for health protection once they have achieved sufficient competency.
