We are looking to appoint for a joint appointment between Southampton Mathematical Sciences and Southampton Business School.

Due to the recent award of a prestigious fellowship, Southampton Mathematical Sciences and Southampton Business School have an opening for one joint appointment for the post of Lecturer in Operational Research (OR).

The post will be held within CORMSIS, the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (http://www.southampton.ac.uk/cormsis/index.page) that brings together the Operational Research Group in Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Decision, Analytics and Risk in the Southampton Business School.  CORMSIS is one of the largest OR/MS/IS groups in the UK, covering the whole spectrum of current OR/MS/IS activity from theoretical mathematical developments to problem structuring and knowledge management.

You should have a PhD in Operational Research or a related discipline, or evidence of near-completion of a PhD.

You will have skills and experience that will enable you to contribute significantly to the teaching provision of Mathematical Sciences and Southampton Business School, involving high quality delivery. You will be able to demonstrate a high-quality research track-record with plans for future research activity, and you are expected to have research expertise or experience closely aligned to CORMSIS.

Duties, as determined by the Heads of the Academic Units will include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervision of MSc projects.  As part of the role, you will also be expected to support the effective management and administration within the two Academic Units.

We particularly welcome applicants with a strong analytical background. Computational skills are desirable but not essential.

This is a fixed term role until the 30/09/2022.  As part of the interview process candidates will be invited to give a presentation which demonstrates their research profile and provide a short teaching focussed lecture.
