Are you an ambitious research scientist looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in stem cell biology or biomedical science? Do you want to help establish research programmes in the area of inherited eye diseases in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?
As a highly motivated, talented and committed scientist you will support the work of basic research and clinical colleagues in the cellular modelling of inherited eye disease. You will use induced pluripotent stem cells to understand the genetics, aetiology and pathophysiology of these inherited disorders. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key contributor in the translation of existing molecular cell biology research into preclinical studies, for a group of conditions that have very few effective treatments.
In close collaboration with clinicians at St. James’s University Hospital and other academic groups at both the University of Leeds and in the UK, you will provide high quality technical support to a variety of research projects. Your expertise will be essential to ensure the effective use of preclinical models of inherited eye disease.
You will have a first degree in molecular cell biology, biochemistry or a closely allied discipline in biomedical sciences. Experience of working in a scientific setting, in a field providing practical and theoretical background in stem cell biology, is essential.
