Description :

Are you a capable and ambitious geoscientist interested in carbonate sedimentology and looking for a new teaching and research challenge? Do you have the skills and experience to advance the teaching portfolio and contribute to research at a leading Russell Group university?

The School of Earth and Environment is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor (with emphasis on Teaching and Scholarship) in Carbonate Sedimentology. The appointment will be of fixed-term, initially for 2 years, but with the option to extend the post should the contract for delivery of our hosted-MSc programme in the Middle East be extended.

As an Associate Professor, you will help lead the delivery, development and management of taught student education within the School of Earth and Environment (SEE) at the University of Leeds and on our MSc programme in the Middle East, and contribute to academic leadership and research in Carbonate Sedimentology, with particular emphasis on hydrocarbon reservoir/aquifer geology. You will be recognised as an authority in the field of carbonate sedimentology and will further develop and maintain an external (especially industry facing) profile as appropriate to the discipline.

You will contribute to the provision, development and leadership of Leeds’ prestigious undergraduate and Masters’ teaching programmes, including teaching on our hosted-MSc programme in the Middle East. You will deliver teaching in classroom and field settings, will mentor a cohort of dynamic project students, and will identify and contribute to strategic planning and development of our taught courses. Course development and project provision can be guided by your own research interests, allowing you the best opportunities for development of research-led teaching practices.
