Description :

Forensic Science is a key component of long-standing and successful STEM provision at the University of Lincoln. Since the inception of the School of Chemistry in 2014, supported by a £6.8m award from HEFCE’s Catalyst Fund and strategic University investment in infrastructure, the Forensic Science programmes reside formally in the School. However, to maximise the subject’s interdisciplinary footprint, the programmes operate jointly with Lincoln’s School of Life Sciences as the Forensic Science Subject Centre

The School builds on a tradition of applied sciences at Lincoln and operates interdisciplinary research at chemistry-bioscience and materials interfaces with research into innovative analytical methodologies and their application to Forensic Science as a key theme (e.g. forensic DNA methods, drug pharmacology and toxicology, forensic archaeological science and anthropology).

The taught Forensic Science portfolio includes undergraduate Forensic Science and Forensic Chemistry and post-graduate Forensic Science degrees. An innovative undergraduate curriculum in undergraduate Forensic Science has recently been validated and was accredited in 2017 by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. The programme is based on four key themes: Biological Sciences, Analytical Sciences, Crime Scene Science and Professional Practice and we are seeking enthusiastic individuals to promote one or more of these themes.

We seek dynamic and enthusiastic scientists to help the development of Forensic Science through experience in relevant research themes and/or professional contexts. An ability to lead provision in modern forensic methods in biological sciences (e.g. DNA methods) would be highly advantageous alongside an ability to provide a broad contribution to the School’s taughtprogrammes in Professional Practice. A commitment to working within multidisciplinary teams and an enthusiasm for developing research-integrated teaching are strong aspects of the role.

Early career candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach in specialist areas and have an enthusiasm for broadening their experience across the forensic sciences.
