The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, energetic institution, with a substantial commitment to developing world-leading research and teaching. Over the coming years, the University’s strategic plan aims to deliver excellent research with impact, with a strong focus on research in agriculture and new technology. The Lincoln Institute of Agri-food Technology (LIAT) is at the forefront of initiative and has been key to successfully in securing large investment from both government and industry to support LIAT’s core research areas, in particular agri-robotics. Recent key note projects include LIAT as a key partner in the UK’s first EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Agri-robotics with Cambridge and UEA, plus a new £6.3m Research England funded centre “Lincoln Agri Robotics” that includes 30 new posts. These new research centres will work closely with the agricultural sector to address the challenges of food security, climate change and sustainability in the coming century.

Due to our rapidly growing research program we seek to recruit an individual with expertise in Crop Science and good quantitative skills to consolidate and expand our activities. This post is available on a Teaching and Research (TR) role and the ideal candidate will:

Have a strong academic/research profile related to crop science which complements our existing expertise across LIAT;

Have expertise in crop physiology, phenotyping, agronomy, and/or arable systems with experience in data collection and, field trials. Candidates that take a quantitative approach are encouraged to apply;

Contribute to the research profile of the Lincoln Institute of Agri-food Technology;

Work alongside the Director of LIAT, LIAT team members, the Lincoln Agri Robotics team members, and external industry partners to engage in applied research in agriculture and agri-technology.
