Located within the School of Social Sciences, the Department of Sociology & Criminology is a high performing and forward-looking collegial environment, which provides its students and staff with exceptional opportunities for teaching, research and professional development, all within an applied context. The Department of Sociology & Criminology is recruiting a Lecturer in Sociology, a Lecturer in Criminology and a Senior Lecturer in Criminology, who will offer high quality teaching, assessment, student supervision and pastoral care to students on programmes within the Department.  These Programmes for Sociology are: the BA (Hons) Sociology, BA (Hons) Black Studies and BA (Hons) Sociology & Criminology.  The Programmes for Criminology are: BA Hons Criminology, BA (Hons) Policing and Investigation, BA Hons (Sociology and Criminology), BA (Hons) Security Studies and BA (Hons) Security Studies and Criminology, MA Criminology.  Other taught postgraduate courses are also being currently developed. The successful applicants will be qualified at postgraduate level and, preferably with a PhD or working towards one in Sociology, with an ability to teach a range of undergraduate Sociology courses. In addition, an ability to teach in the areas of Community Studies and social inclusion of protected characteristics, research methods, Black Studies, placements, racisms and decolonial perspectives in sociology would be advantageous.  This post would be suitable for an emerging academic, although evidence of engagement or applied practice in social policy and administration contexts, a track record of publications and outputs and policy-engaged outreach activities would be useful. Applicants should be actively involved in research, knowledge transfer, CE and/or professional practice (for instance, in applied public policy arenas or NGO engagement). Previous curriculum design and administration experience would be beneficial. As part of your application, please attach your CV and Cover Letter.
