Description :

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the farm animal pathology and disease surveillance team, based in our state-of-the art Veterinary Pathology Centre in Guildford.

The University of Surrey is an international University with a world-class research profile and an enterprising spirit. Inventive and forward-thinking, our heritage shows a recurring theme of doing things differently – and achieving notable results. The University of Surrey has recently invested in a new School of Veterinary Medicine.

You will be an MRCVS with experience in farm animal practice and performing post-mortem examinations in a range of livestock species (including ruminants, pigs, poultry/gamebirds and camelids). You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a team. An interest in undergraduate teaching and contributing to the School’s research portfolio is also desirable. This full time position will primarily involve providing an exceptional diagnostic pathology service to farm animal practices in the south-east as well as generating high quality disease surveillance data for the APHA. You will be supported by a team of board-certified veterinary pathologists and skilled technical staff.

The University of Surrey offers excellent multidisciplinary facilities including an £11 million purpose built, high containment Veterinary Pathology Centre. You will also have the opportunity to work with experts from world class veterinary institutes and practices through our many collaborative partnerships. You will use your skills to support and further develop diagnostic pathology and disease surveillance activities within the new School of Veterinary Medicine. This will allow you to directly contribute towards UK veterinary surveillance and the training the multi-disciplinary veterinary leaders of the future.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to play a leading role in helping shape the University’s new veterinary education programmes and to further develop the area of farm animal pathology and disease surveillance.

For informal enquiries please contact Professor Roberto La Ragione (r.laragione@surrey.ac.uk), Head of the department of Pathology and Infectious Diseases and Deputy Head of School.
