The University of Nottingham invites applications for a Clinical Associate Professor in Hepatology or closely related field. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician scientist join the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre (NDDC), one of the largest and internationally excellent divisions comprising academic gastroenterology, hepatology and gastrointestinal (GI) surgery. The major purpose of this appointment is to expand the critical mass of ‘world leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ research performed within the NDDC and GI & Liver Disorder Theme of NIHR-Nottingham BRC that has ‘GI & Liver Infections (C difficile, Viral Hepatitis and H pylori)’, ‘Disorders of GI Physiology & Liver Metabolism’ and ‘Innovative Methodologies’ as priority Research Areas. We aim to attract, a translational researcher with autonomy and track-record of setting up and overseeing laboratory science based projects and programmes. . In particular, they will bring existing research strengths to devise, and undertake, their own research programme developing novel therapeutic and preventative strategies within their specialist field of interest. In addition, the person appointed will deliver excellent care to patients through the Gastroenterology/ Hepatology/ Nutrition/ Endoscopy Services of the Division of Surgery at the NUH NHS Trust and contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the School of Medicine, UoN.

The job plan will encompass 5 University and 5 NHS programmed activities at the Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH)  NHS Trust. The successful candidate is expected to have strengths in translational research in one of the research areas of the NDDC and the GI & Liver Disorders theme of the NIHR-Nottingham BRC 

This permanent position is full-time (40 hours per week), however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 30 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours.
