Master Thesis/ Dr. med. Thesis (M/F/D) – Gastrointestinal Oncology AG Quante, Klinikum Rechts der Isar

We opened vacancies for a master thesis (Biology /Biochemistry/ etc.) /Dr. med. thesis (medicine) and encourage interested and motivated students to apply in our lab. Our group is located at the Klinikum Rechts der Isar, focusing on research on Esophageal Adenocarcinoma (EAC) and risk stratification in it´s most common preliminary disease, Barrett´s Esophagus (BE). In this context, we combine basic science with the translation into the clinic. We are working on genetic mouse models, with human samples and 3D cell culture from mice and human patients. Currently we are focusing, inter alia, on the link between dietary components and tumorigenesis, thereby using a wide range of techniques to investigate the impact of the immune system, microbiome and metabolome on disease progression. We are also investigating the disease at the genetic level by studying the key mutations in the progression of the disease from BE to EAC using in-vivo and in-vitro tools. Project details will be discussed after successful application for a thesis.
