Birmingham City University (BCU) is a large, diverse and vibrant place to study and work right in the heart of the city centre. The Library & Learning Resources Directorate is seeking to appoint a Library Data Officer. 

We are looking for an exceptional data professional, with proven skills in and sound knowledge of 

identifying, extracting, analysing and presenting library data from multiple systems;assessing the impact of our services and resources on learning, research and customer satisfaction and to underpin business development;successfully employing techniques for data manipulation and presentation in user-friendly and accessible formats, ideally in an educational context; using data frameworks and methods to optimise success;presenting information and data in a clear and informative ways to stakeholders. 

You will work closely with key members of staff for example our librarians and library systems staff and colleagues from across the Directorate.

A central aspect of the role is to develop and implement our plans for learning analytics to enhance the student experience and present our value to stakeholders for example faculty, students and senior managers.

Selection Criteria (from the job description)

You will be educated to degree level and should be able to demonstrate your portfolio of experience at interview. 

The post holder should have 

a broad knowledge of metrics methodologies, data analytics and experience of applying them;must be aware of how metrics are gathered and applied across HE libraries to inform library strategic developments;experience of facilitating team interactions (essential); project management experience (desirable);demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to the continuous improvement of services;commitment to supporting the delivery of customer-focused services;experience in contributing to decision making;the ability to cope with an environment of change;the ability to innovate;excellent communication and interpersonal skills;a high degree of organisational ability;excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
