Join a unique British University in China. The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Located in Ningbo, this award-winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to 8,000 students in just 16 years. It complements the other University of Nottingham campuses in the UK and Malaysia.

Ningbo is a modern city of around 8 million people. With a 7,000 year history, it is an excellent place to live with green spaces, many historical sites, cultural activities and a range of international schools. Ningbo is also famous for its food. It has high-speed train links to other parts of China and an international airport, as welling being within easy reach of Shanghai.  The local cost of living is low by international standards.

If Ningbo were a country, it would be rated as the 53rd largest economy in the world, on a par with New Zealand, and classified as ‘high income’ by the World Bank. It is the world’s largest cargo port and the 3rd biggest container port. Ningbo is also a centre of entrepreneurial private businesses and manufacturing industry, for example automotive components. Ningbo companies are increasingly globalizing their operations, while foreign companies are also active. This makes Ningbo an attractive place for business and management research.

A leading international business school. A key component of UNNC, NUBS China is an integral part of the Nottingham University Business School (NUBS), awarding the same internationally recognized degrees offered by the University of Nottingham. In operation for over 15 years, NUBS China currently has approximately 3,000 students with around 400 enrolled in postgraduate programmes including a 100 strong PhD programme. It has a rapidly expanding international faculty of over 100, based in Ningbo China and coming from over 25 countries and regions. The school is EQUIS accredited and part of a highly rated university that is seeking to improve further its ranking among the world’s top research and teaching universities. NUBS China focuses its efforts on three I’s: International, Innovative, and Interactive. NUBS China has rapidly progressed to its current focus on high impact research, customized executive education, and high-quality teaching.

Candidates must have PhD degree with teaching experience in Marketing, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Preference would be given to candidates who have taught or can teach Digital Marketing and/or Marketing Analytics. Experience of teaching and tutorial work in relevant subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution is also essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake high-quality research. International collaboration is encouraged. Faculty have access to an excellent package of research support, including attendance at international conferences. He/she will teach lectures and seminars in Marketing across all years of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and master’s dissertations.   

Salary will be within the range from RMB 411,197 to RMB 541,469 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling support, and international insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years starting 4 January 2021. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.
