The University of Bath wishes to appoint a highly motivated computer scientist as Lecturer (teaching role) to contribute to teaching our excellent students and to develop new forms of delivery.

You must have a continuing commitment to maintaining the University's high standards in teaching and learning, with the ability to educate and inspire some of the brightest students in the country and to design, develop and deliver high quality teaching, supervision and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You will be expected to extend our core teaching strengths and to develop effective courses through helping lead the proposal, development and delivery of new online programmes. You will contribute to leading new teaching initiatives and will teach a range of topics in computer science, for example in programming, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and software engineering. Duties will include developing learning materials, giving lectures, running tutorials, setting and assessing coursework and examinations, and supervising and marking project work. Teaching will be conducted as part of a team across a range of relevant courses. You must be a good communicator and a very effective team member, with enthusiasm for the subject material, strong organisational skills and ability to work well with diverse staff and students.

Applicants will be expected to have a PhD, a reputation for excellent teaching, and experience in developing collaborative degree-level courses with industry. This will be underpinned and informed by significant expertise and experience achieved through providing teaching and learning, study and scholarship or professional practice. You will also be expected to contribute to the administration, leadership and management of the Department’s activities commensurate with the level of the appointment.
