Description :

The School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Criminology to add to our existing strengths in teaching as well as in research and/or external engagement. This is a senior role in a growing criminology team. The successful candidate will enhance that team, and the wider School, through their experience and expertise.

The School of Social and Political Sciences is an expanding department within a university that has established a reputation as one of the most dynamic and fastest growing in the UK. This is an exciting time to be joining our student-focused and research-active School in further developing our place as a leading centre for studying and engaging with the range of areas that make up criminology as a discipline.

The successful candidate will be able to teach in their area of specialism within the field of criminology as well as being able to teach core elements of the criminology curriculum. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in critical criminology, penology, and sociological approaches to crime and deviance, but not to the exclusion of stronger candidates with different criminological specialisms.

Alongside teaching, staff are expected to conduct high quality research and/or engage externally, for example in professional practice and scholarly activity. In addition, senior colleagues are expected to offer leadership in and take responsibility for some wider aspect(s) of the work of the School.

Successful candidates will seek to develop their own and the School's profile, and to enrich the academic environment and profile of the School of Social and Political Sciences, and of the College of Social Science of which it forms a part.
