We are looking for an individual with inspirational and consistent leadership at subject level or equivalent, an established record of accomplishment of change management and experience of effective working with Professional Services Departments to join the Executive Board and Leadership Group within the School of Education from 2nd August 2021.

Associate Deans are core members of the School Executive, acting in support of the Dean of School, and working with the School Operations Manager to ensure the development and achievement of the School’s strategic and operational objectives within the context of the University Strategy. Each Associate Dean has a suite of responsibilities within the School and across the university and is accountable to their Dean of School for their effective implementation.

The role we are appointing to is Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise) for a period of between 6 to 12 months.

To succeed in this key strategic role you will need:

The vision and strategic leadership to develop the School, to further academic planning and development of the Associate Dean’s portfolio, and to contribute to the general strategic and operational leadership of the School.The capability and significant academic reputation necessary to gain and retain the confidence of the School’s staff, in support of the Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise portfolio.Knowledge and understanding of the School’s principal disciplines and professional areas, and a desire to grow research and impact and to further develop the School.Skills of collaboration and negotiation, supporting the Dean to deal effectively across the range of issues within the School.Highly effective organisational, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.Proven ability to think and plan strategically and project manage across competing priorities and work to deliver against deadlines.An ability to represent the School in a positive and effective way within the University and, by extension, to represent the University externally to other stakeholders.Administrative ability including the capacity to maintain effective working relationships within the School and with other Schools and Professional Service Departments.Hold a PhD or professional doctorate in the field of education.

 Associate Deans of Schools are appointed at a single salary point Grade 11, Point 55 except in the case of a successful candidate being a member of the professoriate, where  they will be appointed at Grade 11, Point 55 or two points higher than their substantive role, whichever is the higher salary.  As this is an interim role, the successful applicant will be acting up in relation to the grade and point.
