Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care (HC3248-21-177)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of staff dedicated to teaching the Intensive Care Pathway and other Level 6 and 7 modules within the Clinical Practice courses. You will provide a stimulating learning experience, motivating and inspiring students to become critical thinkers and high-quality professionals. 

We are looking to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with contemporary knowledge of adult intensive care nursing who has professional experience as a senior practitioner or an enhanced clinical practice level.   You will teach and assess specialist and enhanced knowledge and skills to prepare students to meet the Step 2 and Step 3 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses set out in the national standards for education by the CC3N (Critical Care Networks National Nurses Leads).  

A fundamental part of the role is collaborating with colleagues across the School to develop research and/or scholarly opportunities.  The post will form part of the newly created School of Sport and Health Sciences.

Our philosophy is to work in partnership with students, academics, researchers, service users and service colleagues to deliver high quality learning and teaching based on contemporary research findings and practice.  Our lecturers develop and utilise a range of teaching methods to support student learning in both theory and practice, and act as a personal tutor; using listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues.   In order to be successful in this role you should have:

Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) A good (1st or 2:1) BSc degree or a postgraduate MSc An intensive care nursing course equivalent to Step 2 and Step 3 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses from the CC3N’s national competency framework.Professional experience in adult intensive care as a senior practitioner or an enhanced clinical practice level.A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or an HEA Fellowship, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months Up-to-date, sound knowledge of current developments in intensive care nursing including current clinical, professional and policy developments and the range of generic skills required to teach the subject.
