Lancaster University invites applications for the post of Lecturer/Teaching Fellow (equivalent to Assistant Professor) to join its exciting new campus in Leipzig, Germany.  Located in one of Germany’s most vibrant, liveable, and attractive cities, the Leipzig campus offers the same academic quality and fully rounded student experience as in the UK, with a strong strategic vision of excellence in teaching, research, and engagement.  While the position is with the Leipzig campus and reporting to the Academic Dean of Lancaster University in Leipzig, the new colleague will also have a close association with Lancaster’s main campus in the UK, with opportunities to spend time in Lancaster and interact with colleagues there.

The ideal candidate will have completed a PhD and have well-rounded capabilities in teaching, research, and engagement. As a part of this exciting new initiative, the candidate will have ample opportunities to support and develop each of these activities from the ground up, starting with an initial focus on academic delivery. Candidates should be able to deliver excellent teaching at the undergraduate level and pursue their own independent research and develop publications in high quality academic journals or conferences (Lecturer) or scholarly activities that contribute to the teaching excellence of the institution (Teaching Fellow).  The department welcomes applicants with expertise in all areas of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, International Financial Management and Financial Statement Analysis.

Candidates for a Lecturer role will have a suitable research track record of targeting high quality journals or a record of equivalent high-quality research outputs, and candidates with research interests in various areas of Financial Accounting and Financial management are particularly welcome.  For Teaching Fellow, you will have a suitable track record of undergraduate teaching and/or module design. Please state in your application which of these roles (Lecturer/ Teaching Fellow) you are applying for.  Although German language skills are not a prerequisite for the role, we are seeking applicants with an interest in making a long-term commitment to Lancaster University in Leipzig.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a PhD in Accounting and/or Finance or closely related discipline, or are expected to complete their PhD in the near future. 

ABOUT LANCASTER UNIVERSITY LEIPZIG: This role is based on our campus in Leipzig, Germany. The Leipzig campus offers Lancaster University degree programmes, with the University retaining responsibility over academic matters, including Lancaster staff teaching the degree programmes.  Lancaster University’s operation in Leipzig has been approved by the Saxon State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts. The campus is located in the heart of the City of Leipzig and welcomes students from around the globe.
