Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications is growing and we are seeking to appoint six new academic members of staff including two new Lecturers/Assistant Professors and one Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor to join us in helping to create and study the systems of the future. Applicants should be computer scientists with a track record of achievement in research, teaching and engagement and have a compelling vision for their future research and teaching as well as the impact they expect their work can make.

Research, teaching and a collegiate approach are all crucial to us: you should be passionate about joining a team committed to combining both research and education and seeing students succeed. 

For these positions we are prioritising a number of core areas of computer science: Networking (above the physical layer) and Networked Systems, Data Engineering and Data Storage Systems, Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, Software Engineering and Programming Languages. 

Lancaster has particular strengths in collaborative and interdisciplinary work both within the School and through our research centres and institutes and we encourage applications from those who are genuinely interested in the potential for collaborative approaches to address some of the grand challenges facing computer science and society more generally.

The School of Computing and Communications (SCC) at Lancaster University is a research-intensive department comprising of over 50 academics and 170 researchers, with a grant portfolio exceeding £25m from a wide range of sources including EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU and industry. We offer a multidisciplinary environment with enormous potential for collaboration and work on challenging real-world problems especially via our interdisciplinary research institutes and centres and the new £42m Health Innovation Campus. The School is housed in the iconic InfoLab21 building on the University’s main campus located in beautiful countryside just outside the city of Lancaster.
