Description :

We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) with interests and experience in developing mathematical and computational tools for modelling physical processes in porous media, eco-geohydrology, and/or carbon storage; to work in an interdisciplinary team---at the interface between mathematics, engineering, and eco-geohydrology.

The PDRA will be based at Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, work in close collaboration with School of Mathematical Sciences, and be affiliated with Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Geoprocesses (EFMG) research group, and GeoEnergy Research Centre (GERC). The PDRA will develop numerical tools for modelling the complex interplay of mechanical, ecological, and hydrological processes in natural porous media, and to increase our understanding of the dynamics of Peatland, and carbon sequestration within it.

Peatlands store the most carbon per area of any terrestrial ecosystem. Better tools for rapid and reliable assessment of global peatland condition are urgently needed to support restoration efforts. The project will build upon our recent works [1-4]. The project will focus on enhancing the explanatory scope of our models, by either integrating multiscale processes, microscale physics, or increasing the complexity of the geometry.

This is full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term post for 18 months. Arrangements for job share may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Bagus Muljadi , email Bagus.Muljadi@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
